For me, From This Moment is Melanie's most emotional book to date. The subject matter not something you encounter all that often. A widow whose late husband's identical twin brother has returned home after years abroad in Africa. A man who looks and sounds exactly like the man she thought she was going to spend the rest of her life with. How do you handle that? Can you handle that?For the past 18 months, Hannah has been barely surviving each day since the sudden and unexpected death of her husband. If it weren't for her five year old daughter, Abby, she probably wouldn't even make it out of bed each day. What is the point? The love of her life is gone, and in the blink of an eye, her entire world as she knew it is irreversibly changed. And now her brother in law Wes is back in town, and it is more than she can handle to look at him, listen to him, and not immediately think of late husband.But the more time Hannah spends with Wes, the easier it becomes to see him, and the less he reminds her of Drew, her late husband. At what point did he become just Wes, a man she loves to spend time with, looks forward to spending time with? A man she's finally getting to know fully without him being in the shadow of his brother. Is that wrong? She feels like it is, the guilt weighing on her. But then the guilt comes less and less, and the more Wes talks about how he's always felt about her, she begins to think that maybe she can open her sheltered heart to the possibility of something more than just a familial relationship.I absolutely loved getting into Wes' head. Especially when he recalled the past and how he had met Hannah first, the shyness he struggled with, and ultimately how he always put his brother ahead of himself. It tugged at my heart so much to learn all that he had given up and watching from the sidelines as his brother found love with the girl he knew all along was meant to be his. Ugh, no wonder he joined Doctors Without Borders and stayed away for so very long.Melanie just blew me away with the depth of emotion, the complex story of what many people would consider a taboo subject. A woman falling in love with her dead husband's identical twin? Oh the gossip!! The unnecessary drama caused by nosy people just looking for dirt to spread. Wes and Hannah already feel like they're walking a tightrope of emotions, knowing in their heart of hearts that what they're doing isn't wrong. But can love really be enough to overcome all the obstacles they face? Some of them coming from their own family?The supporting cast of characters felt like coming home for me, having read about many of them in Melanie's other books. It was wonderful to see Jack and Margot, and Daisy and Pete again. Little Abby just stole my heart, and another character made me want to wring their neck. Actually two characters, but you'll have to discover them for yourself.This book is filled with a lot of emotions. I ran the gamut of feeling sad, heartbroken, hopeful, happy and a slew of others that totally had me glued to this story to see how it would turn out. The hopeless romantic in me was rooting for love - because love always wins. What an absolute sweet story! This is the story of Wes and Hannah...Hannah was married to Wes identical TWIN brother. Yes...I said it T W I N! He died unexpectedly which throws Hannah and her young daughter into a deep depression. Then Wes comes back into town and at first, all the pain of losing her husband comes back.Wes has ALWAYS loved Hannah and stepped aside so his brother could have her but he never, ever forgot about her. When he comes back, he starts to spend more and more time with Hannah and you can see the genuine love they have. Now of course because Wes was her dead husband's twin, it throws the tiny town in to a tizzy but Wes REFUSES to give up!I cannot tell you how many times I cried or laughed at what was going on. This was such a touchy subject and Melanie handled it BEAUTIFULLY!This is such a wonderful read that I know I will be reading it again and again in the future. Well done Melanie Harlow!!!
